A rigorous assessment of systems, processes, projects and programs weaponizes a leader or manager against such blindness and prevents operating in the dark. Learning and Development
We consider learning and development (L&D) a vital Organizational Development strategy and strategic priority. We know after decades of practice in complex academic and business environments that organizations who fail to invest adequately in L&D find competitiveness through innovation, creativity, learning, change, and even productivity much more challenging than their competitors who do make it a priority. We also know that many organizations approach L&D in a manner that fails to optimize results. The literature on L&D reflects dissatisfaction and disappointment with results. This is understandable given that many companies don’t effectively assess the impact of their L&D initiatives and also simply hand-off or assign the L&D function to existing HR or OD personnel who lack the expertise and even fundamental understanding of learning to effectively develop, manage or measure this critical initiative.
