Discovery Northwest is committed to social justice and equality of opportunity by eliminating the barriers that create structural inequality, and enfranchising people to career and education access who have been historically and still disenfranchised, marginalized, and often completely ignored.
The Discovery Northwest Reentry Initiative (DRI) is supported by a growing team of staff and volunteers dedicated to expanding access to jobs, training, and quality, higher education in prison by establishing and building advocacy through solidarity with others to facilitate reentry for the currently and formerly incarcerated. DRI believes COLLABORATION is the most powerful way to expand career and education opportunities through collective commitment to social justice, humanitarianism, and human knowledge. In fact, it is likely the only way.
DRI is committed to accomplishing its goals in a variety of ways, including but not limited to:
- Increasing jobs through educational access for people behind or now beyond bars who have historically been excluded from such opportunities
- Challenging and breaking down existing equity gaps and systemic barriers in job and educational access based on class status
- Working to ensure that our team and partners, at every level, advocates for people directly impacted by incarceration.
